Will leak detection damage my property?
No. We use non-invasive technology like thermal imaging, acoustic sensors, and ground-penetrating radar. No drilling, cutting, or demolition required in most cases.
Does insurance cover leak detection?
Many policies cover detection costs when water damage is present. We provide detailed reports for your insurance claim documentation.
How quickly can you respond?
Same-day response is often available for urgent situations. Regular appointments are typically scheduled within 24–48 hours.
What if you don't find a leak?
You receive a comprehensive report confirming no active leaks were detected. This documentation is valuable for insurance, property sales, or peace of mind.
Are your drone pilots licensed and insured?
Yes. All Leak.ca drone pilots hold Transport Canada Advanced RPAS Certificates and carry $5M commercial drone liability insurance — required for all legal commercial drone operations in BC.
Can you fly in any weather?
Most days. We avoid heavy rain, sustained winds over 35 km/h, and freezing precipitation. We give you a same-day weather call so we never waste your time on a no-fly day.
Do you need to file a flight plan or notify air traffic?
Sometimes. Our pilots manage all NAV CANADA and Transport Canada NOTAM filings and class-airspace coordination as required — this is included in the quote, never your problem to handle.
What kind of thermal camera do you use?
FLIR radiometric thermal cameras (Vue TZ20-R / similar) — every pixel is a quantified temperature measurement, not just a heat-tinted image. This is what makes the report defensible in front of insurance and engineers.
How big an area can you cover in one flight?
Roughly 5,000–50,000 m² per flight depending on resolution requirements and weather. Most single-building jobs are completed in a single 30–60 minute flight.
Can drone inspection replace a structural engineer?
No — and we don't claim to. Our aerial inspection identifies and documents moisture, heat loss, and visible defects. Your engineer interprets that data for structural decisions. We work closely with engineering firms across BC.
